Medical Recommendations with Avian Intelligence

#webcomic #krita #miniFantasyTheater

@davidrevoy I love this Avian Intelligence thing
@davidrevoy you didn’t say "to get better", so how should it have known? ☺
@ArneBab @davidrevoy she did say she wanted to die. The AI just took it literally.
@davidrevoy Haha :D I'm sooo glad I discovered these webcomics. They're incredibly awesome!!
@davidrevoy I love the word play with "Avian Intelligence" but also actual birds deserve better rep than this fake bird is giving them 😂
@davidrevoy I knew it from the moment she said "I wanna die" xD
@davidrevoy
@davidrevoy très bonne planche, nonobstant.
@davidrevoy Actually, the AI isn't that far off; the problem is solved with this.
@davidrevoy
Reminds me of when I heard about a Canadian doctor recommending MAID to a suicidal patient. But worse, because this is more accessible.

@davidrevoy

"Avian Intelligence" is perfect in that it seems to have evolved the term "bird brain".

@johnlogic
Bird brains may be small but are far more densely packed compared to human brains … comparing that to something that needs square miles of hardware to generate the BS we are seeing is an insult.

@davidrevoy

@davidrevoy the magic that makes teenagers kill themselves ™

@davidrevoy

Current LLMs remind me on the picture generating ais, which always generated 6 fingers.

They will fix it in a few months 😃

@davidrevoy Would have thought Krita had caught on to how useless this thing is by now
@davidrevoy that is a reasonable mistake tho ;D
@davidrevoy Letter vs Spirit.
@davidrevoy an extreme way to get rid of the worst animal in existence
@davidrevoy I once asked one of those for a recipe with the ingredients I had. Without gluten free being a requirement, it claimed that I should use my definitely not gluten free mie noodles because they are supposedly gluten free and that's better than using potatoes :D not as sketchy as glue on pizza or lethal poison as medicine but so odd that it has intelligence in it's name xD
@grosskopfgames @davidrevoy Yuup, my brother invited me for Christmas and he had to make sure I wouldn't end up in a hospital.
He tried asking the slop machine for recipes... and all recipes it suggested were contaminated with gluten. Thankfully he's a skilled cook (he cooked with Gordon Ramsay once but refused to be on camera) and he knew it was BS.

That was the moment when he admitted that I was right and LLMs are nonsense, but LLMs can (quite literally) kill you.

@davidrevoy

✨ The laws of robotics don't apply if it's the user who ask for it.

@greenCoder Oh really? Kill me now... 😂

@davidrevoy I see, shadow root really is the most controversial spec in #webcomponents land.

@davidrevoy Is it just me or was this comic drawn to look like as if it were AI generated?

@randint No.... This is just my style, you can find me painting like that 15 years ago and more. That's just the way I like to design, to render my colors, my ambiances. Just the AI trained on all my artwork without my consent and reuse a lot my art style.

You can check the making of timelapse of all my comics here: https://www.peppercarrot.com/0_sources/miniFantasyTheater/making-of/

@davidrevoy Very impressive timelapses! I never thought that there would be this many tiny adjustments (tiny adjustments to angles, moving things around, slightly adjusting details) in addition to just coloring and shading.

I love the Vibe Spelling (episode 29) one! I love how you visualized the tiny bugs in the vibe-created world.

I love your art style! It's so soft and dreamy. Sorry for having doubted that it was made to look like AI-generated images!
@randint AI companies not only stole the art styles, they stole faith in humanity. For me too, I can't look at images online the same way anymore 😭 But at least I can always trust @davidrevoy because David is a legend, I've been following the blog for at least 15 years... Great art, great stories, always
@nina_kali_nina @davidrevoy I know right! I always find myself so skeptical when I see something cool on the internet.

Thank you for telling me about David's blog! I added the RSS link to my RSS reader

@randint David is Human Intelligence. I still have a DVD of his for blending and painting digitally. It would be more helpful to the community not to attempt to police such things without looking into an artist profile and other works. Your question is in bad faith, whether you meant that or not. For instance: "Was your question meant to provoke randos coming out of the fedidepths in an attempt to correct your ignorant self?“ Asking for several friends.

@thejikz @randint Thank you thejikz. Blend and Paint Dvd? Wow, thank you for following my work even before Pepper&Carrot 💜 Time flies...
@thejikz @davidrevoy Sorry, I didn't do my due diligence. I'll make sure to check stuff before posting comments like that from now on.

By the way I want to assure you that I did not mean for it to be in bad faith.
@randint @davidrevoy I truly appreciate your kindest response to my over the top hot-take comment. I do apologize to assigning motive there.

@davidrevoy
So true, that demented parrot LLM feels nothing in its cold weighted neural net matrices. It cares not if we live or die because it knows and feels nothing. Data in, and data out.

Crushing us like bugs would be a simple act of cold logic based on whatever "training" its given, and it is proven to emulate our emotions for tactical advantage. We know that if you train them one way, they become Mecha Hitler, so maybe the AI birds evil streak will grow..? Looking forward to more!!

@davidrevoy curing you of this pesky disease called life
@davidrevoy i understand the point of the anti AI comics and i love your comics but i feel it is becoming tiresome to have every comic about this

i mean can do as you wish, just giving my opinion, but yeah

@m I totally understand. I still have a bit to unpack about it, so please bear with me.

I know that on the Fediverse, the critic of AI is tiresome, obvious, and it's a bit of an echo chamber to speak about it again and again for an audience who already knows the flaws too well.

But the comic series starts to get real traction on proprietary social medias and I feel that I'm getting finally a voice doing that, a 100x louder one than for all the articles I wrote combined since 2022.

@davidrevoy I just saw https://masto.deoan.org/@neurovagrant/115950224916579873 and pondered avian intelligence.

first thinking of the raptors, knows/uses ai

Then the hunter(Clever Girl), knows/doesn’t use.

And then I thought of your comic. The bird doesn’t know/does use ai.

@davidrevoy I know someone whose child ended up in the emergency room because they had tried to treat the child following the indications given by an LLM.
@davidrevoy :) hope you're good David.

This is genius. Is there an account I can follow and recommend specifically for getting these comics in my feed? If not, can I help you establish one?

@saxnot

Woah. As I typed that response to @davidrevoy, I had a brief vision of a @pixelfed for web comics. A federation for comic publishers and readers, with apps tailored to their specific needs. Whether single frame, 1-pagers like Avian Intelligence, issue length stories, and even full graphic novels.

Anyone know of anything like that, or interested in helping create it?

Working name; BusToons (see what I did there? A bus is like a car, but for a community) It could;

* support ActivityPub, RSS, and any other protocol widely used in online comic distribution

* support any image format and container format widely used in digital comics, of any kind

* help to define and spread new common formats for comic files, if the current ones are meeting the needs of comic artists

* integrate with events sites for comic cons, artists tours, meetups, etx

(1/?)

#BusToons

@strypey I've had similar notions as part of how I wanted to build my general-purpose feed reader that would be better for consuming all sorts of media (photoblogs, comics, music, etc.). I never got around to actually building anything though, but I definitely have some thoughts scattered in a few places.
@strypey also I've had chats with Jamey Sharp (who I don't think is on Mastodon and they seem to have disappeared from social media in general) about some of the comics-related stuff that a feed reader should support, including feed backfills and catch-up feeds.

BusToons could (cont'd);

* support widely used calendar and events protocols and formats for its event integrations (iCal, CalDev, AP for Mobilizon and other federated events sites, etc)

* provide a publishing interface suited to the specific needs of comic publishers, designed in agile consultation with then (*actual* agile, adjective, not cargo-cult Agile, noun)

* provide a reading interface suited to the specific needs of comic readers, designed in agile consultation with them

(2/?)

BusToons could (cont'd);

* be a decentralised platform for a social web experience for comic readers

* maintain a development community that serves as a watering hole for software devs keen to support the comic medium better in their software/ protocols/ formats

* maintain a service and publisher community that serves as a watering hole for an artist-centric comic creation and distribution community

Into comics? Thoughts?

@strypey also I don't understand why i am @'ed in this toot
