An Exceptional problem.
The English language is full of exceptions. So is the culture that speaks it. "ghoting" is really pronounced "fishing" with this in mind.
Why is this troubling to me? Because it is the case in our society. One would say "but that isn't in context" to say it like that. Yes, exactly why it is the problem. The exceptional problem is prevelent in the powers of the cultures that speak it, and they dictate the acceptable exceptions, while casting out the ones that follow the same rules of exception, but they do not like.
This is how empire culture gains. We are different than them. This is how racism keeps going. The powerful are the "exceptions". Exceptionalism pushes people to mask and do things outside reasonable norm structures, often to the delight of, you guessed it, those in power who would exploit that novel exception. OR, they are threatened by it, and do what all power does, which is to squash that exception.
The rules are made up, the game is a lie. Except not this one. :D
