I wonder why the least wealthy countries aren't downloading LibreOffice?
Is it because the technology to run LO isn't suitable? (I know mobiles are common, but computers not so much).
Is it because "free" tools like Google Docs is preferred, because there is nothing to install and it works wherever a browser works?
Is it because for most people, life just doesn't include using a computer based office productivity suite?
Something else?
Apologies for my ignorance on this matter.
@rzeta0 @libreoffice it could be that the darker colored countries have higher populations generally, like Brazil and India aren’t the wealthiest countries but they do have very high populations and are darker colors.
As far as I can tell this graph is measuring raw numbers vs per capita, which is why high population countries like the US and Germany are fairly dark but I’d imagine LibreOffice is relatively unpopular vs microsoft products
I think it's because most people in these countries don't even have their own computers
@rzeta0 Short answer: Migration is costly.
The traditional Office has been everywhere for a long time. Full compatibility is required, including all prevailing bad practices. One effort in Thailand to migrate to LibreOffice is to educate users how to create good documents using styles in word processors, for example.
@libreoffice
@libreoffice
Do you have a map with downloads per capita?
China having a huuuge population, comparing it with Germany or France isn't really relevant of the roots of LibreOffice in each country.
Thanks!
