SpacewaysLying in bed this morning with the window open (cold morning air is so good). I had a little win to start the day. I've been trying for 13 days to pick up herring gull on the Merlin app but with no luck. It's odd as 4-5 of them sit on the roofs calling away to each other every morning. Today it was just 1 and Merlin heard it, happy me and a nice way to start the day before boring work.
Yes Birder@Spaceways It's really weird -- the Merlin app doesn't seem to register herring gulls most of the time. There can be a whole flock of them calling loudly and it doesn't find them.
@karochan3 It's an odd one. I'm wondering if more than one gull calling at a time confuses the app. I finally picked it up when just one gull was calling.
@Spaceways I'm not sure. All I know is that the app very rarely identifies herring gulls but it has no problem with black-headed gulls. Very odd.
