πŸ₯ North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary, Stoke-On-Trent. Without a doubt, my favourite abandoned hospital! So many old operating theatres date from between the 1920s and 1970s; many still had power when I explored a few years ago. Sadly, all these areas are now demolished.

More photos of all 6 operating theatres, and all the other areas I explored - https://www.obsidianurbexphotography.com/medical/hospital-morgue-s/

How did you turn the lights on?
@jiri.kalina
Using the switch? 🀣 It still had power, at least in some of the rooms. These are all in different parts of the hospital!
I was thinking about bringing a bunch of small headlamps to put behind each of the lenses πŸ˜‚ But that's a bit… boring πŸ™‚
@jiri.kalina
Aye they would be a lot of work, but another way to do it πŸ˜‡
@ObsidianUrbex If the building is abandoned, who pays the energy bills?

@Stem
It's more common than you think to find the power on in abandoned places. This hospital is a huge site, only a few areas had power still (and only some circuits, operation theaters for example)

Given this is a NHS building, ultimately it's our taxes (for me and fellow UK peeps) 🀣

@ObsidianUrbex

I can't help it. My mind immediately starts racing, seeing such isolated houses. I think of creepy psychological thrillers... πŸ˜†
The illuminated operating lights look somehow creepy. Great pictures.πŸ€—

@Rembrandt0514 @ObsidianUrbex The questions that came to *my* mind at first were:

- were there sill any X-ray devices around?

- if so, did they still contain their radioactive sources?

- if not, *where and in which state have said radioactive source ended up?*

I don't really want to know the answers, mind you.

@aaribaud @Rembrandt0514
Sometimes it's unanswered questions that can intrigue the most!

But nope, no x-ray machines left

I did find a few inside old hospitals in Portugal though, really old ones!
