As we pull out of the New Year's holiday, we can expect the 14th wave of covid to start to surge

Covid shots are available under the same schedule as influenza shots, meaning this season's batch is available until the end of March

As with the 2024-2025 season, if you are 65+ years old, your municipality most likely sent you a vaccine ticket in fall to cover some of the cost
If you are 64 years old or younger (regardless of risk status), you will have to pay the full price (¥15,000 or ¥16,500 with tax)

For the search itself, long story short, you will need a Japanese speaker to help with at least some of the process

Meiji Seika Pharma, the distributor for Kostaive in Japan, has organized a list of medical establishments which they claim are offering covid vaccines
You can search by prefecture → more local municipality via the drop-down menus (link in the next post) 1/2

⚠️ HOWEVER
I will go so far as to say MOST of the sites listed do not mention covid vaccines on their pages
Even if you can read enough Japanese to navigate them, you will likely need to make phone calls to confirm

☝️ ALSO IMPORTANT TO NOTE
For Kostaive vaccines specifically, you will need to click on the square with the building icon that says (コスタイベ筋注用) and search from the drop-down menus there (Don't worry about the 問い合わせはこちら; the label placement is just unintuitive)

Because Kostaive is still less popular than the other major vaccines, there are some locations which will only offer the shot in even numbers (for stocking reasons)
For the location I asked myself, they said you may make an appointment as a single person, but if no one else does the same for that day, you will have to cover the cost yourself (essentially risking paying double) 2/2

I really wish they had a map feature so you could see the next best bet :(
If you're up in Fukuoka City proper at any point, though, I know this clinic offers them for sure! (This is the one I mentioned that does the double charge, though, so something to keep in mind)
