If the BBC decided to spice things up by hiring an American (and Canadian) actor to play The Doctor, who would be your pics?

I'll go first... Noah Wyle. He has a good mix of poetic soul like 5, sad boy charm like 8, and manic "baby giraffe" energy like 11, and he has experience being a weird eccentric adventurer (Librarians) and... an actual Doctor (ER, The Pitt)

#DoctorWho

@thevhswizard My kneejerk for American is Lakeith Stanfield, cuz he's one of my favourite actors, and he's been great at playing eccentric characters in stuff like Atlanta and Death Note. For Canadians, I would nominate Jay Baruchel.
@thevhswizard my gut reaction is William H Macy, he has serious range, can do comedy and serious well, is roughly the right level of famous and I like an older doctor.

@thevhswizard

Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, Jamie Campbell Bower . . . wait a minute 😉

Seriously, Nathan Fillion or Michael Shanks

@thevhswizard I’d like to see a different energy be brought. Maybe John Cho or Garrett Wang for a science fiction connection. They’d also be familiar enough with the rigours of science fiction production.
@thevhswizard Kiefer Sutherland. He has a great range; funny, vulnerable, serious, scary. And that voice!
