If Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen of Denmark wants the US to bomb Nuuk and abduct the Greenland government, I recommend continuing the European line of Trump appeasement.

Alternatively, now would be a good time to condemn Trump’s new war with Venezuela and mobilize an international coalition for the defence of Greenland.

@randahl or the defense of Venezuela...
@gryzor @randahl they had S-300V and Buk-M2 etc., nobody opened fire. The military just betrayed Maduro. Being puppet of Putin, as Assad did, never brought any benefits.
@randahl I second the alternative
@randahl Ukraine, Gaza, Venezuela... the UN has failed, like the League of Nations. This is a very bad sign. I am wondering if China will use this as an opportunity to attack Taiwan.
@FrancoisPrague @randahl China will go after Taiwan sooner or later, they are waiting for their army to have a sure victory, more than for a situation in the world. In opposite to Russia, they have much more accurate information I think.

@FrancoisPrague

I am convinced Trump and his henchmen believe they can carve the world up between US, China, and Russia. Other than the Cuban Missile Crisis, I think this is the most dangerous time the world has experienced in my 68 years.

@EricMartin @FrancoisPrague 100% correct. The prospects of global war are more likely today. Eventually those spheres of influence bump and that tends to lead to war.

@FrancoisPrague @randahl

Indeed, this is yet another step in full breakdown of international law. The UN is a dead letter. Indeed, what would hold China back to take what it wants now?

@xs4me2 @FrancoisPrague @randahl

What would hold China back?

What has taken them back in the last 80 years: military deterrence.
China was never stopped because of international law.

@elCelio @FrancoisPrague @randahl

We will see what happens while in fact the USA have turned into an untrustworthy rogue state ruled by an erratic tin pot dictator.

Xi in his new year's address has expressed what he desires to do in the new year.

@xs4me2 @FrancoisPrague @randahl
the Chinese government doesn't need to look at the US example before deciding to invade.

it has been 80 years that they want to invade Taiwan, the reason they didn't do it is because they didn't have the military capabilities to do so.

The only thing China is looking at is if the USA decide to remove their support for Taiwan, not at what the USA do in the dozens of countries they have invaded in the last 80 years.

@elCelio @FrancoisPrague @randahl

That is a simplification of geopolitics..

@randahl Why do we still have US bases in our countries ?
If he US wants to bomb Denmark that's made super easy by their already have a base in the country (this also applies to any other country with US bases, of course). It's obviously much easier for them than invading Venezuela, which they had to do from elsewhere.
@randahl France offered to deploy troops to Greenland early last year. I am disappointed that our government has so far not taken up that offer!
@ejner1 @randahl I suspect that foreign troops can cause friction with locals no matter what intentions domestic or foreign leaders had.
@Charlesberkow @randahl sure, the usians have been on Greenland since around 1940. French troops should be invited by the greenlanders themselves, to provide protection against the us predator.
@ejner1 @randahl macron will never do that. His words are shit.

@randahl

The EU needs to get the US Military out of its borders first, or it's really going to go sideways.

@randahl The EU clowns are really licking Trumps boots. No condemnation of an illegal violent act. No, the other way around: Emphasizing how evil Maduro is and for the form calling for restraint.

@QuantumAspect @randahl a strong worded letter and call to respect the UN Charter that 3 of 5 nuclear members never respect anymore
@randahl Oh, long live MAGA?! But it can't be. It's impossible to be great. Because it's small. ;)
@vlakicas @randahl typical Republican policies. Like "we don't help anyone, it's socialism, we get it ourselves by merit!" and then people ask what happens when they're in time of needs? Any criminals are lonely people.
@randahl I'm thinking now would be a good time for NATO's European partners and Canada to start deploying military assets to Greenland, given that Trump has explicitly stated that he wants it.
And Ukraine.
And Gaza.
Because both Putin and Netanyahu are going to be emboldend by this.
@stuartb @randahl A long (3-year) series of military training exercises would fit the bill

@randahl

...with Taiwan as part of the military (and political) alliance....

@randahl

Aber keinesfalls die Front in der #Ukraine vergessen.
DAS ist der aktuelle Kriegsschauplatz, NICHT DER Irre aus den USA....

@randahl it's gonna be about suppy lines, the navies. Europe is a bit closer with bases in Iceland and Norway on the way. Canada most likely join the EU too, unless some far right idiots wil elections.
@randahl Europe needs to seriously consider economic sanctions on the US.
@randahl Trump's attack is no different from Mussolini's attack on Abyssinia, Hitler's attack on Poland, Hirohito's attack on Pearl Harbor, Bush's attack on Afghanistan and Iraq, and Putin's attack on Ukraine. It is an unacceptable crime and should be interpreted as such. The international consequences are terrible, and that is what should concern us now.
@randahl i miss the condemnation of the @EUCommission If you don’t condemn than you are permit illegal military intervention. If it is #venezuela or #greenland. You can’t condemn the one and not the other. #trump
@muzicofiel @randahl @EUCommission Oh, don't worry, they're "working towards Vision Zero": https://ec.social-network.europa.eu/@EUCommission/115830301609038267
Maybe they already achieved Hearing Zero & Speaking Zero.

@muzicofiel I think some EU politicians have been looking forward to Trump jumping head first into this new Vietnam war, giving him and his adminstration a lot less time to annoy Europe.

@randahl

Operation Enduring Epstein

@randahl

DonOld was calling for a similar attack on Mexico this morning and has claimed both Canada and Iceland as American territory in past months.

@randahl Every European country should send a few soldiers.

@randahl @TMangnall

This action against Venezuela is only a test.
Trump is following Putin's play book. Annexe Venezuela (Crimea) see what the global community does and if nothing then full scale war for Greenland and Canada (Ukraine)

Action needs to be taken against America now.

@randahl
Is this a good time for Danes to move to Greenland and be in on the deal when Trump offers them $57Bn to sell up?
@randahl To World 🌍: Boycott all us products and events. Too late to move Olympics? DO IT ANYWAY do NOT give our Tangerine Tyrant any opportunity to play Host and use his fucking BALLROOM MY healthcare and food security paid for!!!
