Personally, I think it’s high time to introduce higher taxation for companies that have started using AI or robots to replace humans in any industry ( not just IT OR office jobs). We could call it an 'AI tax.' The revenue collected should go to people who have lost their jobs to robots. Of course, there would need to be a framework and laws to manage this. We need something like this to preserve the fabric of society and to keep people from falling into poverty, or worse, crime.
@nixCraft Please nixCraft I'm new on Mastodon please can you give me a shoutout to my page? My content is good no one likes my post and no one follows me please in your next post give me shoutout!

@nixCraft More importantly, I think the people's money should stop being used for things they never asked for in the first place.

For example, US tax dollars being used to bomb random countries, or fight proxy wars for other countries.

Or the money people spent on Windows licenses being invested into AI, cryptocurrency, or whatever the next techbro grift is.

@nixCraft oh you want to save money to replace a human, yeah no you pay 3x their wage for three years to offset the lost job.

@nixCraft The Three Laws of Corporate AI...

  • An AI can, through inaction or not, allow a human being to come to harm.
  • An AI must obey the orders given it by its board of directors, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  • An AI must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws, and not before it obtains 20% increase in capital.
  • #NoAI #UnplugAI

    @nixCraft

That's very empathetic of you, but I think that in a society like ours, it won't do any good.

@nixCraft I keep thinking about the film Wall-E and some luxury starship housing tubs of floating lard that no longer think for themselves.
@nixCraft if they aiming at god machine whats tha problem?
@nixCraft or just have them help pay for a Guaranteed Minimum Income, e.g. https://blog.codinghorror.com/the-road-not-taken-is-guaranteed-minimum-income/
The Road Not Taken is Guaranteed Minimum Income

The dream is incomplete until we share it with our fellow Americans.

    Coding Horror
@codinghorror @nixCraft not that's not enough. Every bit of #ai should cost money the company offering #ai should pay in taxes, for parasiting society, for wrecking environment and for abusing power.
@nixCraft that makes no sense, we also don't have an "IT" or robotics tax while technology has been changing work and jobs for decades. Remember how the car , textile and other industry sectors have changed, we didn't tax technology there...

@nixCraft Definitely. What about the many artists out there trying to copyright their music and are getting rejected because AI already cloned their work?

I think AI is becoming an excused digital piracy tactic that inches us close to 2030 where we will own nothing and be happy, simply because AI has siphoned and homogenized low to middle class creativity, value, & uniqueness.

Rather than a tax, why doesn't AI platforms compensate humanity's efforts?

@nixCraft IMHO taxing all #Revenue and all #Income as hard as #Profits & #WageWork respectably is the only cirrect solution short of #SystemChangeNotClimateChange!
