@GossiTheDog I worked for Dell during the ransomware surge, and was in a meeting with VPs trying to decide what to buy to fix it. I said "Ransomware is just malware plus extortion. We can't even use 'restored' ransomware data. The fix is robust backup and restore processes. All we need to do is reinforce those."

I got reprimanded after the meeting for speaking out of turn and voicing that opinion. The VPs wanted to spend millions on some product that let them brag that they'd saved the company.
