I'm Dylan (he/him), a husband, father and full stack web developer experienced with #PHP, #SvelteKit, #Svelte, #JS, #NodeJS, #linux, #WordPress and #ansible. I'm also the author of the #book "SvelteKit Up and Running."

I enjoy #running, #programming, #pcgaming, and #gardening. I also love a good challenge which is why I #homelab.

Currently, I'm building https://helth.app/, a PWA for tracking nutrient intake.

Occasionally shitposting.

Vibe Coding Is Bad News For Good Ideas

There's something about reckless “AI” use, and vibe coding in particular, that's bothered me for reasons I've never quite been able to put my finger on until now. Indulge me as I rant about our total disregard for constraints and the good ideas that come from them.

Published a new version of helth.app that resolves the issue of "Invalid Date" being shown in the charts instead of, you know, the actual date.

I’m trying to think of a better way to say that you despise the fields of Intelligence and cybersecurity.
All I could think of is that lifelock guy who posted his SSN everywhere and said he was impervious to credit risk.

For a while, I wanted to learn #Rust. But after this interview with @andrewrk, I think I want to learn #zig instead!

I volunteered to help my local bonsai club migrate their website from Squarespace 7.0 to 7.1.

Before recommending any options, I needed to know what was actually on the site.

So I did the only rational thing: I wrote a script that scraped every page, categorized the content, and generated an inventory of what would need attention during the migration.

Auditing a Squarespace 7.0 site before migrating to 7.1

Squarespace's 7.0 to 7.1 update tool has a 100-page cap and several documented content limitations. Before running it on a real site, you want a complete inventory of what's about to break, and why. Here's the script I wrote to produce that inventory.
