The sweeping arch of the Victorian engine shed of Queen Street Station in Glasgow. Made of cast iron, it was designed by James Carswell and erected by P. and W. MacLennan in the 1870s. Queen Street Station was built by the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway, and opened in 1842 as a terminus for Scotland's first intercity rail service.
