@computer the question is, is everybody susceptible to this? Or are only the men prone to being incel jackasses likely to fall down this relationship sewer hole that leads to endless masturbation?

Because if this isolated further the awful people and wastes their sperm/fertility, I think that is a win for everybody else. Not everybody needs to be paired up. Not everybody is fit to raise kids. And the environmental crises gets more solvable with less population pressure.

The young girls fall prey to the Tiktok influencers who tell them that despite their being average people on average income with their online photos filtered to the nines they should only date millionaires who are over six feet tall and that if the guy gifts them on the first date they should bail, if they don't gift them they should bail, and if by some mischance they do enter a relationship they should dump him babe.

Unfortunately I've seen a lot of those Tiktoks lately and they're just as corrosive as the incel nonsense fed to the boys. It's way beyond setting unreasonable goals, it's about demanding subservient perfection as a right and hating on anything that isn't that. Youthful angst and frustration is being put into feedback loops for clicks.

@Urban_Hermit @computer The problem is not "AI girlfriends", the problem is #neoliberalism's "divide and conquer" ethos.

Unfortunately, it has the immediate and early effect of putting young men at a certain social disadvantage when it comes to social and romantic relationships in a technological society that no longer values male physical advantages.

Even more unfortunately, said young men are being taught to blame feminism, because that helps to reinforce neoliberalism's power over society.

@Urban_Hermit @computer It's honestly my opinion that AI girlfriends will be a net positive to society, rather than resulting in an increase in misogyny and abuse of women and girls. I may be wrong about this, but all human beings have a tendency to see the "ghost in the machine", to imbue objects with power and even sentience. There are entire religions based on animism.

The ideal AI, after all, is not really one you control, but one who loves you of its own accord and requires no control.
