Grateful as always for open source software!

Just installed SyncThing to easily sync my entire, sizeable music library onto my old phone to use as an mp3 player. There's a learning curve but it's so nice to have a no-cloud, personal, peer to peer syncing solution for my devices.

@jongranrose It's also great going the other way!

Try setting up #Syncthing to sync your phone's camera and download directories to your laptop or desktop. Then you get instant copies of the important stuff on your phone in a place that is less likely to be lost or stolen, all without relying on Google or Apple.

@DanielMReck @jongranrose seconding both of these.

I also discovered that I can sync things to/from my laptop when I'm *not home* (eg. I and my laptop are in the office).

@nxskok @jongranrose Indeed!

#Syncthing is pretty competent at NAT traversal and global discovery. For me, it is even better than #GoogleDrive, #Box, and #OneDrive because it can handle differential sync of massive files by only updating the bytes that changed rather than transmitting the entire file. So a 4GB file might only transmit several kilobytes to update.
