@rbreich I feel like the biggest divide is between the haves and the have-nots. And that divide is growing ever wider.
@rbreich do you have alt text for that?

@rbreich given that you have almost 300k followers here on community owned social media, would it be possible to make the posts here and the screenshots on Bluesky?

Or even better, just bridge your account to Bluesky by following the @bsky.brid.gy account.

@collectifission @rbreich @bsky.brid.gy or, just copy and paste the text (there is no reason for it to be an image).

@nxskok Looking at his timeline, it's just scheduled posts from a social media manager. That's not a problem I have per se, I also use one to schedule posts, but Mastodon is just an afterthought I guess and he's posting on it (or maybe his social media team is posting on it?) because it's zero effort. They could schedule the text instead of pictures, which would actually make things easier for them, but this isn't an account that actually engages with people at all.

Almost 300k followers and nobody's home. That's a shame.

@rbreich

@collectifission @rbreich this is effectively a bot, then, but there's still no reason that it cannot be text, or an image with alt-text.
@rbreich as a american, you think that even with the lunatic gone, your country can have a real democracy?
@rbreich I'd word it as "politics versus people".

@rbreich
While I agree it's a big divide, I do have to wonder how many of those who support trump understand what an oligarchy means to them personally.

To paraphrase George Carlin: You know how stupid the average American is? Half of them are even stupider.

Frankly, I fear our ignorant are being led by sciolists driven by greed. As such, I (an atheist) think the USA's great divide has become a carrot of self aggrandizement being chased at the cost of ever diminishing morality.

@rbreich Do you think ist is oligarchy? I would like to say it is tyrannis. Because of the violence and cruelty against the people.

@rbreich

I could write 2 essays on false dichotomies.

I made a shift years ago from thinking in absolutes one or another to thinking of those qualities as endpoints from a to b and everything in between. It's a continuum.

Both/and is a zen diagram, designed to literally CHANGE your Mind. When it changes clarity of thought emerges.
