Why are there TV commercials? Are they legal here now? This is Aotearoa New Zealand, not some nondescript generic occidental nation.

@PetraOleum I wonder whose ghastly decision this was. Clearly they do not understand this country and our values. Which—call me a conspiracy theorist—means this move was authored abroad and our elected officials had no moral courage or loyalty to this realm to say no.

@jackyan @PetraOleum I don't care for ads - or very much for broadcast tv - but the only ad free days being Christian holidays did feel weird to me

I would care more for one day a week being ad free, but that's a hazy dream

@xurizaemon @PetraOleum Exactly this! Religion or not it’s nice to have a day without some of the terrible ads we have … Christmas Day was shattered by loud Harvey Norman commercials.
