After bouncing between several coffee shops, which were tasty but far too loud and crowded for my liking, I FOUND THE LIBRARY! And it's quiet and there are very few people here and there are lovely comfortable spaces to work!!

Libraries are the best!!!

@sundogplanets And librarians are Heros. Never had a,bad experience with one.
@eruwero Should I get this reference?
@lemgandi it's from "Parks and Recreation" (Tammy is a crazy librarian). It's a really funny episode imo
@sundogplanets i gotta check out my local library. its been awhile
@sundogplanets Libraries are such a win-win-win experience. You always find:
1. people interested in knowledge!
2. knowledge!
3. silence!
😁🤫
@sundogplanets i thought you meant the library pub-restaurant in london and i got very excited! but the real library is ALSO great.

@sundogplanets

And unlike cafes or restaurants no librarian interrupts after 5 minutes to ask: ‘And, how is the book so far?’

@sundogplanets I’ve often thought there’s no reason why a library can’t also have a good coffee bar.
@BrianJohnson @sundogplanets
Or, for that matter, a laundromat?
@quoidian @sundogplanets I was actually going to add that!
@quoidian I am so lucky to have a coffee shop, a laundromat, and a library all next to eachother, with an antique shop to top it off

@BrianJohnson
Some central/main public library branches and reference libraries in major Canadian cities do have coffee kiosks.

@sundogplanets THANK LIBRARIES!!. I spend my university years studying in libraries; and now (almost 50) I use to go once a while to work with the computer when I want the work done.
@sundogplanets and some have coffee nowadays.
@sundogplanets @HamonWry True that, I do loads of work in libraries

@sundogplanets

libraries are totally fantastic I'm taking Spanish English chat and French English chat and my libraries in Texas

@sundogplanets

The next time you find yourself in Albuquerque, go to The Library:

@sundogplanets This librarian is glad you found the library. Around here (Vermont) it's a good climate-controlled space with nice internet, gender neutral restrooms, snacks, and comfy chairs.
@sundogplanets Spent lots of my time at Duke in the library stacks in a nice little cubicle researching all sorts of interesting things. My biggest worry: relaxed so much I might fall asleep and my bones would be found decades later.... Oh, and also, my mother was the librarian at Methodist University (then just a college). Davis Memorial Library. I grew up in that one.
@sundogplanets And some even host coffee shops...

(E.g., Emma's Torch)
@sundogplanets im so glad the library was quiet! It rarely is anymore in my city! We need to get rid of cafes in libraries. In my opinion they are ruining the quiet space libraries once we're and driving those of us who NEED quiet spaces out of what was once our sanctuary: libraries.
@sundogplanets libraries have always been my favorite place to study, write, and collect my thoughts. Sometimes, I even sneak in my coffee.
@sundogplanets unfortunately i find talking on phones and group discussion the norm at the university library i frequent. but on winter or summer vacations the silence is deafening. which is nirvana.

@sundogplanets well they used to rock, but I'm sad every time I hear another has become a smelly coffee salon, alienating anyone who dares to dislike the stench of that drug's paraphernalia.
The book shop took the same final nail a few years back, just after "we don't stock that book, have you tried the internet?"
@sundogplanets @LibraryFinch I discovered libraries as a great refuge while boating around the #GreatLoop. If I docked at a town with a library within walking distance, it was a great place to go to escape the heat or rain or cold and get some work done on my laptop. This was especially true when I was crew on an overcrowded boat for five weeks back in 2022, but I recently enjoyed one in Florida to escape the heat in August. (What was I thinking?)
