I'm a librarian with many interests. I love dogs, nature, learning, and thinking. Now that I'm retired I can spend more time on other things, but I'm still a librarian at heart. I joined Mastodon to share and learn new things in a peaceful, thought provoking way.

Some of my interests: dogs, reading, nature, native plants, gardens, western USA, weather, sociology, history, geography, archaeology, health and of course, libraries.

Putting on a pair of shorts I haven't worn since last summer. Most people find loose change in their pocket. I found a pepper seed pod.

I recently took an art class here in Tucson & one of the highlights was that we had live Sonoran Desert critters brought into the classroom for us to sketch! I usually like to take my time creating art, but making these quick gesture sketches of Quincy the Gambel’s Quail was fun! Read about it on my blog post https://paulaborchardt.substack.com/p/quick-sketches-of-quincy-the-quail

Thank you #NSF National Science Foundation for 75 years. 250 staffers were able to gather for a NON-OFFICIAL commemoration photo out to the west side of the building, May 20, 2025. Quite an effort by people who still do their best in the US at the federal level. Quite a story here, too.

Well, the pinon gnats seem to be out in force now. No more bug-free sitting out!
