LibreWolf Browser

A custom version of Firefox, focused on privacy, security and freedom.

a statement from LibreWolf team:

"As there seems to have been recent confusion about this, just a quick "official" toot to then pin: we haven't and won't support "generative AI" related stuff in LibreWolf. If you see some features like that (like Perplexity search recently, or the link preview feature now) it is solely because it "slipped through". As soon as we become aware of something like this / it gets reported to us, we will remove/disable it ASAP."

a statement from Vivaldi team:

"Today, as other browsers race to build AI that controls how you experience the web, we are making a clear promise:

We’re taking a stand, choosing humans over hype, and we will not turn the joy of exploring into inactive spectatorship. Without exploration, the web becomes far less interesting."

Vivaldi takes a stand: keep browsing human | Vivaldi Browser

Browsing should push you to explore, chase ideas, and make your own decisions. It should light up your brain. Vivaldi is taking a stand. We choose humans over hype, and we will not turn the joy of…

@Linux The other day I found out that the organization that hosts my Mastodon instance had lost its funding, so I moved to social.vivaldi.net and this only cements for me that I made a great choice.

a statement from Waterfox team:

"... browsers are operating systems of their own, and a browser’s job is to be a good steward of that environment. AI, in its current form and in my opinion does not match that responsibility.

... The core browsing experience should be one that fully puts the user in control, not one where you’re constantly monitoring an inscrutable system that claims to be helping you.

Waterfox will not include LLMs. Full stop."

No AI* Here - A Response to Mozilla's Next Chapter - Waterfox Blog

Mozilla's pivot to AI first browsing raises fundamental questions about what a browser should be.

@Linux waterfox is strong 💪💪💪

@Linux what does @Waterfox develop actually in terms of browser/engine? besides taking actual firefox and stripping it down from certain features?

I mean great - let's everyone ditch Firefox, mozilla will die and… what will waterfox do?

@Linux Floorp is making it opt-in but isn't excluding it.

@cynical13

Yes, so user can choose. Regular Mozilla Firefox is making it opt-out (and probably via needlessly technical way - not with a "click of a button").

@Linux just doesn't seem the same as doesn't or won't have to me.
@Linux Or nyxt browser. You don't even need a mouse to use it.
@sendpaws @Linux Should be "Oops, all Gecko" except for Vivaldi which is Chromium.

@M33

Waterfox is there plus even their statement is in the thread..

@Linux the ladybird browser is built by a real... Piece of work in pretty much the worst way.

I wouldn't trust him even a little bit. And certainty wouldn't expect them to ever release anything worth having. It's a political project, and not in the "GNU is a political project" sort of way.

@Linux librewolf 很好用我觉得🤔
@Linux android 的话还可以考虑 Cromite (chromium fork)
@Linux Vivaldi it will be....
@alyastay But why you dont prefer AI browser
@boyhero7779 @Linux it's just that sometimes I don't want AI to be on for everything and not excluded from my browser which I think is absolutely unnecessary
@Linux It should be noted Ladybird is queerphobic and misogynistic. Please consider supporting Servo instead
@Linux In general, for a browser, being hosted at MS is imho worse than having some AI features integrated.
@Linux On Android, there's also Fennec, which is equivalent to LibreWolf on the desktop.

@Linux I am a Floorp user and from what I’ve experienced, Floorp has intentionally kept AI features in (and if I’m not wrong, are adding more in as on by default). I plan to switch at some point when I find another browser or fork.

I recommend you remove it from the list.

(related note, I’ve been working on my own “browser” for macOS that doesn’t have AI integration in it. It’s not complete or “good” but it’s very minimal and I’m still working on it.

@Linux F Ladybird. It's a project run by a bigot.
