So you start with the disrespectful claim of Black people “don’t interest you,” but then ask to learn why Black people are experiencing constant racism on this site? Then proceed to again, ask Black people for free labor to explain something you said you’re not interested in? Said it’s because you’re not American, when tons of other non Americans take the time to learn on their own?

Look at the casual anti-blackness in real time. Why did I even try.

I have some black people on my follow list and I assume there are some people that I don't know are black, but I don't have any particular interest in how American black people specifically are fairing, if you see what I mean. I'm not asking as a non-black American, I am asking as a non-American, a complete, 100% foreigner.

This type of racism is the exact type of mean spirited, passive aggressive, fake liberal racism that festers on mastodon, and it is deeply insidious.

It is a reminder that most of you don’t want to learn to be better people. You are not interested in abolitionism. You want to “learn” about dynamics that are fairly obvious so that you can weaponize your knowledge against the oppressed to silence them, then continue to bloviate while pretending to care.

This is abuse. And weird.

@ErickaSimone @lax It's a bit weird to expect people to know what the issues are, and what abolitionism is, when it exists entirely outside of their framework. If you're not interested in educating someone, fine, but I don't think that accusing someone coming from an entirely different cultural background, where racial differences are simply not relevant to the degree that they are in American contexts, of being racist is called for or helpful in any way.

I am American, but take the time to learn about cultures around the world, on my own, because I care genuinely about humanity. You don’t. We get it. Move on.
