While Meta and other American big tech companies are banning LGBTQ+ accounts to censor the LGBTQ+ communities, we need to fight back.

People should have the right to freely express themselves, share their stories, resources to help each other and enjoy free, safe and inclusive spaces.

It's clear that we will have to fight to defend basic freedoms that are threatened by the Trump Administration worldwide. Fediverse is the real bastion of real freedom o speech and expression and we will need to keep it that way and strenghten it.

@dawid I have questioned the benefit of being on platforms like Meta for a long time now. Should the be banning LGBTQ+? Absolutely not. But it does feel like arguing to be allowed to stand in the pile of dog shit.

@hellomiakoda The problem with these platforms is that they are purely driven by profits (and now also by very toxic political agenda) without caring about anything else. In perfect world, no one would stay on platforms like those owned by Meta, but there is a big problem as many people and organizations are dependent on them in very addictive way, so the process of changing them for something else is not easy or fast.

A good way of fighting back is to move to more friendly and open spaces, and bringing friends and others. Fediverse is such a space. Maybe it's not perfect, but it's still better than spaces operated by Meta or X.

As for you, you are here, in fediverse, which means that you are divesifying your digital life and exploring more options. It's a good thing and it's very nice to see you here. If you are still being on other platforms, this is up to you. But surely you made very important step by joining fediverse. And by doing so, you also fight back.
