Discovered a major philosophical difference between my husband and myself.

He would take immortality (immunity to age and disease-related death) if it offered.

I would not. Even if it came with wealth and power.

Because *if* I was going to be immortal on this planet, in this form, I would then have to worry about WTF to do when the sun hit the red giant stage and fried Earth.

And I would worry - it would bother me a lot, and fairly often.

We agree this is a me problem.

@madeindex That depends entirely on other people. Space travel is not a one-person effort. I'm assuming here that there is no guarantee that our tech will evolve to the point that a truly self-sustaining space ship could be built.

Although....... that's a really interesting thought, because the main obstacle to star system hopping is just the immense TIME it takes.
