Lol. He's right on the money
@Leander Maybe I should make a cut of that clip that isn't cropped to vertical with those horrendous one-word subtitles.
Fucking Tiktok.
@Leander does dantiksuptok not allow you to supply proper alt text to show to ppl on other softwares
wow
@Leander Reminds me of this story about Bill Atkinson reporting that he wrote -2000 lines of code:
@Leander I rarely watch LTT but that episode was full of gold.
For those who haven't seen it, it's here - https://youtu.be/mfv0V1SxbNA

Just for a second I had a nice fantasy where Linus was convinced to do something like DOGE.
@Leander
The fact Linus Sebastian gave as much deference to Musk is itself a statement.
Anyone who is steeped in the tech community should be aware of how bad a coder Musk was/is. Famously all his code at Pay Pal had to be re-done because it was so inefficient and problematic.
Then there is the "move fast and break things" (strictly speaking, it was Zuckerberg who said that) approach to both software and hardware development which is reckless and deliberately & unethically externalizes costs.
@Leander
The people who value KLOCs and code bloat are hardware manufacturers and electricity providers.
That is why “Big Iron” IBM incentivised KLOCs and why the new hegemony of cross investment between Fossil Fuel and Generative BS is pushing higher and higher line counts.
The less efficient the algorithms are, the slower the computers are and the more inclined users are to upgrade.
Also, the more power is consumed.
No one ever "accidentally dunks" on that fucker.
It's instead called "stating a tautology" and while not argumentatively useful, it's easy to do and not at all a risk to the speaker since their statement is always true.
