While often complex, at its most basic both racism and sexism are mechanisms used by rich white men to deflect resentment of their entitlement & privilege onto groups that have spent years, decades trying to combat the prejudices they have confronted.
Their very success makes them a useful target of mis-direction when the entitled are looking to shift the blame for poverty, lack of opportunity & social exploitation.
The only really dangerous minority are the rich!

African-American scholars have argued since the early days of the civil rights movement that while the primary victims of racism may be ethnic minorities, the *function* of racism - and the reason it's promoted so heavily by the rich - is the social control of disadvantaged white people by other, more powerful white people.
In other words, it's a mechanism for entrenching generational wealth and preventing the masses from realising the true causes of their deprivation.

LBJ’s comment about poor white trash being given someone to look down on.
Multi generational wealth was only for a few families. An attorney said it’s usually gone by the 4th. 2nd generation is common.
