The current #TopGear crew are really quite fun to watch - the show went though a lot of difficulty trying to replicate he unique chemistry of Clarkson / Hammond / May, and they've settled on something completely different; proper car nerds, who don't have any celebrity presenter vibe to them (yet), but also not trying to do consumer road test type content. (1/4)
There's an interesting overall vibe building amongst them against the over-coddling world of electric transport appliances that mainstream cars are becoming, and a reinvigoration of the idea of cars that are more like personal steamtrains; combustion engines because combustion power is just fun in of itself, manual transmissions because choosing the gear ratio to balance the engine to the road is FUN in of itself etc. (2/4)

It's best summed up by the fact they gave the car of the year to a #RestoMod Lancia, which is insanely expensive, yet built with the manic precision of a mechanical watch:

The most fun of this video is just watching the joy on the face of the guy presenting, when he's forced to stop talking mid-sentence by something the car is doing. A #Nerd enjoying the nerdiness of a nerd toy is a good thing. (3/4)

Also worth noting #DriveTribe (Clarkson, Hammond, May's post Grand Tour project, now just a Hammond thing) alumnus Mike Ferney (another proper nerd) was touring the ItalTechnica factory of the engine company behind the Lancia:
