Halfway! The earthworm tentacles were fun

#warhammer

If you think painting miniature eyes is bad, wait till you try teeth 😅

#warhammer

At least my brush is up to it!

#warhammer

Just a few more elements to finish now!

#warhammer

Almost started painting the base before painting the horns 🤦‍♂️ Disaster averted

#warhammer

Four for four

#warhammer

On the one hand, painting Poxwalkers to this standard takes a certain kind of madness…

On the other hand, they look sooo goood 🤤

#warhammer

New techniques time! Not 100% sure this is giving me what I’m looking for, but I’ll play it out and see

#warhammer

Might have to shelve this guy for a few days; need some colors I don’t want to have to mix, so I gotta pick up some paints before I continue. The blues are making for an interesting tint, too

#warhammer

Inquisitor on the painting desk tonight

#warhammer

Reasonable progress on this guy! Capturing the right facial expression makes or breaks a mini like this

#warhammer

Right now, cloaks are my least favorite thing to paint. Blending is hard

#warhammer

Starting to come together. I’m kinda procrastinating until my new paints get here, but it’s nearly done

#warhammer

(His mecha xenomorph buddy is up next)

#warhammer

Little bit of blu-tac to hold him together temporarily!

#warhammer

My first Inquisitor! Real happy with how closely I could match him to the box art. Still some cleanup to do (he’s not glued to the base yet), but overall great mini

#warhammer

Progressing this Poxwalker a little bit

#warhammer

He’s in better shape today for sure. Still gotta figure out those tentacles though

#warhammer

If I’m to make any progress on my backlog at all, I need to work on more than one mini per day 😅 That’s a pretty fking tall order…

#warhammer

Poxwalker 5 and 6 should be done tomorrow 👌

#warhammer

Little morning diversion. Saw a great painted commissar online and it spurred me into action

#warhammer

Commissar!

#warhammer

I could paint Imperial Agents all day long. I really enjoy painting up once-off minis

#warhammer

The face was the first part I painted, as a subassembly. It turned out OK but I stressed about it for a long time, and it took many attempts to get it somewhere I liked. Painting faces is hard, man. And it’s still nowhere near as good as those from any decent painter

#warhammer

That makes six!

#warhammer

It’s been a while since I painted anything, and I now have a lifetime’s worth of minis inherited from @pilky, so I figured rebasing some of them would help me ease myself back in. So Thousand Sons it is today!

#warhammer

First ten complete!

#warhammer

And some Scarab Occult Terminators, for good measure

#warhammer

More of pilky’s minis spruced* up

*because they’re Wood Elves, get it?

#warhammer

Pushing my way through the ugly phase on my Cathay test model 🐉

#warhammer

It's been a while, huh. Painting faces is so damn hard, but very rewarding

#warhammer

Success?

#warhammer

I think the head maketh the model, in this case, but I still have a lot of highlights to do to bring it all up

#warhammer

A quick composite paintover in Photoshop has me excited to finish this thing 😄 It actually is gonna look ok in the end. I just need to do it for reals

#warhammer

And now for real, the final assembly 🥳 Even better than the Photoshop version

#warhammer

Complete.

#warhammer

Color matching game on point 👌

#warhammer

Tonight's rebound project: re-basing and magnetizing a bunch of pilky's dwarfs

#warhammer

Dwarfs! A nice modern base breathes new life into old minis

#warhammer

And a Runesmith to go with them

#warhammer

It's fun to go back and see the mini painting progress I've made in the past couple years in specific details, like faces. They're one of my favorite things to do now

#warhammer

Continuing with the re-basing project on pilky's dwarfs, and gave the leader a tiny bit of a face/hand touch-up too

#warhammer

Been pretty sick for a week, so recovering by slowly making progress on the first mini of the year

#warhammer

Finally pushed these Star Wars Legion stormtroopers off my painting desk after them being there for the past year. Soft plastics: never again. I'm so glad they've moved to hard plastic minis in later editions. Lesson learned
@stroughtonsmith Genuinely curious here - what happens on the soft plastics??
@Verxion couple of things, first paint is allergic to the plastic so if you missed a spot with the primer, you will have a lot of trouble painting over it. But mostly the detail is fairly soft so edges don't catch paint nicely, so you need to put a lot more effort into drawing them yourself
