@peterbrown I remembered after I posted my reply to you that she was a MacLeod. I think of that surname being connected to the western islands of Scotland. In traveling in Nova Scotia, I've encountered some McLeods whose roots were on those islands and who continued to speak Gaelic well into the latter part of the 20th century.

I've watched the decline and death of multiple oldsters among my family and friends.

The sleeping is part of it. I wonder if there have been any falls that were covered up. The falling for not much of a reason is a huge sign that being mostly bed ridden will be at most two years away. Death comes soon after.
