#Trump #Sturmabteilung In #NOLA

Federal authorities announced the start of an “#immigration enforcement” [attack on blue cities] op in #NewOrleans Wednesday, the latest front in the Trump admi’s “crackdown”.

#DHS said that its targets would include “violent criminals” who were released after being arrested. For weeks, New Orleans, a city led by #Democrats, had been nervously bracing for the agents’ arrival.

Trump Administration Begins Immigration Operation in New Orleans

It is unclear how long the effort will last in Louisiana, where the Republican governor has welcomed the agents with open arms even as immigrant communities fear what might come.

The New York Times
#Immigrant advocates have been warning residents to reduce their time outdoors, given the outcomes of past ops in #LosAngeles, #Chicago & #Charlotte, NC.
…previous efforts in those cities were led by the #CBP & [lying sack of💩] Greg #Bovino, who have been criticized for their “aggressive tactics” [#PoliceBrutality], with agents flooding grocery store parking lots, hanging around Home Depots to pick up people looking for work, & “sometimes” “roughly” detaining US citizens.

In announcing the #NewOrleans op, the #Trump admin said it was pursuing “the worst of the worst” criminals who were in the country illegally, & included a list of 10 people it said had been released from local jails because of #SanctuaryCity policies.

Most of the people detained in past ops, however, have not had criminal histories. In Charlotte, for example, where >370 people were arrested, only ~44 had criminal records [most nonviolent crimes], acc/to federal ofcls.
