#FiberArts folk, I need advice!

Looking for a bday present for my MiL who loves #Knitting
She goes to a weekly knitting group & carries her gear in a plastic bag. I'd like to get her a bag with lots of pockets to keep organized.
She carries:
- circular needles (the kind that are attached to each other)
-crochet hook
- ball(s) of yarn
- the knitting pattern/pencil
- her current project, usually ranging in size from a baby blanket to a large adult sweater

Trying to stay under $100

Thank you 💚

I know knitters who adore Tom Bihn knitting bags, and I know Bihn makes bags ridiculously well, and a small one is $100…. Maybe? Maybe just look at it for features?

If you or she have a local yarn store they might carry small-maker ones you could look at in person.

Little Swift

@KarinWanderer your milage may vary, but I carry my notions (spare needles, crochet hook, stitch markers, measuring tape, etc) in a zippered bag from redbubble (medium size), pattern in a pattern keeper, and then the project+yarn in a heavy canvas totebag.
Smaller projects (socks, mittens etc) have smaller project bags that are fat quarters sewn into drawstring bags. Mostly to keep them contained in the larger bag.
@KarinWanderer this is 3 projects, notions pouch, and my pattern keeper in a 14x13 (ish) heavy canvas tote
@treefrogie84 @KarinWanderer Even better is if you get both a tote bag and a zippered bag from Redbubble with identical art on them. That way, it is not only pretty (and supporting fellow artists) but you know exactly which zippered pouch goes with which bag.
(And, yes, I have a Redbubble store, unashamed self-promotion here. 😉 https://kerravonsen.redbubble.com )
@KarinWanderer A couple of years ago, my mother gave me a tote bag at Christmas (helpfully with all my other gifts in it) that is very spacious (I mainly use it to transport board games 3-4 at a time if that helps give a sense of its capacity). And it has about 6 or so pockets all around the inside.
I need to check the label to see the brand, but when I do I'll let you know.
@KarinWanderer The bag I was talking about was this Vera Mia one

@KarinWanderer Hobbii sell them, but I use my sons old sports bag. It's perfect.
@Bamka @KarinWanderer Yes, Hobbii do some very good ones.

So thoughtful of you!

Dancing Sheep is awesome. She makes bigger, multi-pocket bags that aren’t currently listed, but if you message her directly I’m sure she’ll let you know details.

Fair disclaimer - the owner of this shop is a good friend of mine and we’ve collaborated on kit projects in the past. That said, her stuff is excellent quality, she’s obsessive about it, and I’ve bought bags from her myself that are still going strong 10+ years later.

@KarinWanderer Are you in the USA or elsewhere?

@KarinWanderer If you want the most bang for your buck, don't go for a specialist #Knitting bag, but a more general-purpose bag; a sports bag, a beach bag, a tote bag. The ideal would be a bag which zips closed, with at least one pocket which also zips closed. However, so long as either the pocket or the bag itself zips closed, it will work.

As for where to find one... it's amazing the variety of things one can find on eBay.
