Quilt finish day! This is one of my favorite quilts ever, I think. It's a 5'x5' throw made of shirting fabrics I'd collected. Some came from random fabric sales and others came from a friend who graciously gave me the stash she was too old to use.

Foundation-paper pieced, hand-quilted.

I don't yet have a better name for it than Shirting Pineapple, we'll see. #quilting #quiltsofMastodon #quilt

I am so glad I decided to take some pics of it on the couch with the ancient pineapple quilt (technically comforter). I bought it for maybe $20 on sale because I knew it would keep the couch safe from the dog. There's pieces worn through and missing (but this was pieced on muslin, so the muslin is still there).

It's contrast, but it's a reminder of a life well-lived. I want that life for this new quilt. It's going to a friend and her family. I wanted something the kids and dog could use too.

@platypus I love how different it looks depending on how closely you look at it, and every layer interesting
@platypus that is just gorgeous, Ruth
@platypus My mom really liked the pineapple and did a bunch of color play/patterns with it. The one you posted reminds me (because I'm old) of TV test patterns. Her dad was a ham so it also reminds me of stylized waves emanating from a radio tower.

@platypus

Projects like this make me want to take up quilting.

As if I needed another textile hobby that accumulates stash ...

@FanCityKnits haha, yeah this is one that came entirely from my stash which means ... it's ok if I acquire just a bit more πŸ‘€
@platypus would never have considered so many plaids for a pineapple, but you made them work together so well. Your quilts are always so surprising, love how your quilting mind works
@platypus Fantastic! I'm going a little bit dizzy looking at it, I have to admit. The patterns seem to be revolving, but the image is tiny on my phone. I'm sure it's not doing that in actual size.
@platypus This is absolutely beautiful, you did an amazing job! 😍
@platypus That's just gorgeous! In some parts it looks like rain falling on water.
