Established in 1800 as Governor's Park and renamed after writer Maxim Gorky during the Soviet period, the park serves as Minsk's central recreational area.
Inside there's an amusement park with a ferris wheel, fast food cafes, an observatory, and an "ice palace", the home of Yunost-Minsk hockey club.
