Met a sea lion today. Not once did it insist that I engage it in “good-faith discussion with verifiable sources for my claims”. 10/10 would recommend #NotAllSealions #photography #NaturePhotography #streetphotography

😍 Oh my! It looks so snuggly! Delightful🩷🌸

@pork_soda

@pork_soda what a snoozy boi, very nice.
Excellent reference. 10/10 shot.
@pork_soda look at the sea puppy!!!
@pork_soda @m0xEE I've never understood the "sea lion" complaints.
If you can't engage in good-faith discussion with verifiable sources for your claims then that's a you problem not a problem with your interlocutor.

Most people don't get online to engage in any discussions at all — they just seek validation from the clique they consider their own, others seek evoking strong negative emotions in people they barely know, which is an even greater waste of time. But if those seeking validation choose to spend their time on interacting with the later, then they somehow deserve each other.

Pinning a "sealion" label on someone on the other hand is the best of both worlds: you can keep holding opinions you can't even explain in your own words AND it somehow places you above the fray, which gives you additional warm and fuzzy feeling 😁

No, and I think that's a shame. I've always wanted to make a space especially for discussion as opposed to fighting, trolling, seeking validation, placing yourself above the fray using thought-terminating cliches, etc.
If you have any ideas on what to call it and what format it should be in (i.e. chatrooms, old-style forums, Twitter/fedi-like, link aggregator, etc),…
@m0xEE
…whether it should federate or not, etc, I'd like to hear them.

@pork_soda It would probably be very angry if you woke it up.

Or it's dead. Hard to tell. But probably angry.

@pork_soda how did you get so close to them?
@scarlett the wildlife here (in Galapagos) is very habituated to people due to their protected status and popularity with tourists. There is also a fisherman’s wharf just behind me where they go to get scraps.

@pork_soda

Not often you can use the #StreetPhotography and #NaturePhotography on the same photo and have it accurately reflect the subject matter! Kudos!

@pork_soda I’m not expert-level familiar with the natural habitats of sea lions… but… they look a little out of place in the park? 😂👍
