literally yesterday i was thinking of how to work around the photo policy for an art project I’m thinking of doing. with respect to fellow attendees, by not including anyone that wouldn’t like it, etc. because that’s the right thing to do.

it’s so weird and surreal to wake up to someone being allowed to violate that policy outright.

@domi it's not "some rando".
@Katti I don’t know them, and their prior work isn’t linked even once throughout the post.
@domi Stella created some of the most striking Congress Designs over the last years.

@Katti … once again, i’d like links in the post:(

congress is nearly 15k people, you can’t expect everyone to recognize a person purely by writing “(known for her Congress designs for 33C3 and 35C3 and for Camp23)”. sure that makes them more notable (and maybe i’m being too harsh overall by calling them a rando; i initially got onto the german version of the announcement and missed that part entirely), but I still don’t know them nor trust them around this :/

@domi there is some truth in there, but on the other hand: why would we invite “some rando” we don’t trust to have a project like that?

@Katti @domi it is not a matter about who you (plural) trust, it's about the trust of the beings whos photos are being taken!

I never heard of Stella! I don't know if they use an Apple or MS device which might AI scan or upload images to the cloud the instant they are taken!

We've been given literally no other reason to trust than a "trust me bro!"... which comes from people who have neglected the needs of vulnerable beings before! (covid protection, you know...)
