@Radgryd It saddens me that so many people think you have to use MS Word when there are countless better options. If your publisher or wherever you have to send it requires MS Word, convert it to that then, don't torture yourself with that shit while you're trying to write.

@leadore @Radgryd Yes, this! Whenever this comes up, I do my work in WordPerfect as usual, then save to Word. No one has had any issues except when formatting is important.
