I run nine #workspaces (virtual desktops) in #LinuxMint. I always keep text editor Kate open on workspace one, Double Commander on two, Firefox on three, Vivaldi on six. Kate and DC just open on the current desktop.

But somehow the browsers know their habitual places, and if I open Vivaldi while on workspace nine, it actually opens on desktop six, its usual spot. Likewise Firefox opening on workspace three, even if I was on desktop eight when I hit its invocation key.

Why? #Linux ☆ Linux Mint 22.2 | Cinnamon 6.4.8

I can't answer that, but you might want to edit to say what Mint version & what DE you're using

I observe similar behaviour in KDE, so it's likely an application's behaviour rather than DE.
The rough explanation seems to be that some applications store there screen location, as they do preserve other look and feel changes.
