@Rairii Interesting, I just tried it on my iMac G3 (Rev A) with the original CD-Rs. All three discs fail to boot, either by selecting it as a Startup CD, holding down C at startup, or via 'mac-boot' in Open Firmware. ๐ค
The iMac is running 8.6 from the hard drive, but I'm unsure if that would prevent it.
@Rairii Interesting, Iโll try an installed folder on the iMac G3 and seeโฆ now to find a spare IDE drive or adapter ๐
Anything else I should modify to give it the best shot?
FYI - When trying an installed folder on a beige G3 it tries to boot but errors out.
@Rairii thank you! Sorry, Iโm not familiar with the term โtbxiโ, is this a hidden file in the System Folder or a ROM file? I recognize it from Open Firmware tinkering ages ago but my brain is not making the connection.
I have my iMac G3 here so Iโm curious to get the same results you have on real hardware ๐ thanks!
Mac OS ROM file in the system folder@Rairii cool!
Hm, what version was your OS ROM and was it sourced from an iMac restore/install CD or from an installed 8.1 system folder on an iMac?
I tried both, ROMs were v1.1 and 1.6, and they just stopped at the โstartup disk wonโt workโ error. ๐ค
Iโm probably missing something simple ๐
