Folks, it doesn’t matter that Schumer voted “no”. He got the Dem caucus on board with caving. THEN the caucus figured out who should vote yes to provide cover for D Sens up for reelection in 2026, who might have been in serious danger of being primaried. As for the retiring D Senators, doing their colleagues this favor now serves their interest in post-retirement lobbying access and influence. 1/

@heidilifeldman I voted for him in his first Senate election in '98. I was so grateful for us to be rid of that weasel D'Amato, but now I find myself regretting that vote.

yeah, but we forget he and D’Amato made Rupert Murdoch and FOXNews possible. i’ve regretted that vote ever since.
