@gullevek I have to admit, I find this method somewhat elegant - but not very helpful for kids.

Adapting the latin alphabet to another language is usually a pain. English is a good example.

Our preferred Hepburn system is easy to read for westerners, but for a language as poor in sounds as Japanese unnecessarily complicated.

Reversely, it could serve as an eye opener for kids that e.g. the consonant sound in sa vs shi is different.

This method negates that possibility.
