The US is the world's largest oil and gas producer. Yet, "China is now making more money from exporting green technology than America makes from exporting fossil fuels."

China’s clean-energy revolution will reshape markets and politics

The world’s biggest manufacturer now has an interest in the world decarbonising

@davidho

It's a double win for China. They make money selling green energy technology, but green energy also lowers the price of electricity, which lowers the profits that the USA makes from selling oil.

Good thing the USA has AI to prop up demand for electricity to unsustainable levels!

@davidho - even as the US Administration makes every effort to kill off green energy projects, take up, technology and EV production. Including that created by and for Americans.

@bazcook @davidho

Yeh, but farmers were replacing windmills with diesel in the 1950s. That was when America was great. Women wore high heels as they vacuumed.

@Stinson_108 @davidho -...and McCarthy was chasing imaginary villains for political gain.
Simply attempting to repeat the 1950s doesn't make it (or now) great.

And sexualizing the 'little woman housewife' doesn't do anything for now either, Beav.

@bazcook @davidho

I thought you didn't catch my humor till you called me Beav. ;)

@davidho

It takes very little imagination to see China rapidly replacing the US as the premier world power.

@davidho difference is that the US makes money on oil and gas while china is illegally using dumping to destroy the companies that actually did all the R & D for solar panels
@davidho thank goodness for China.
@davidho
The U.S. is just a greedy, decrepit business masked as a country that too many rich people and world governments invested too much through the years. We are seeing what happens when you put all or too many of your eggs in one basket as well as when a business cares more about capitalism and have to appease the curmudgeons who have manipulated policies for decades via donations.

@davidho the USA consumes almost as much oil and gas as it produces. It also imports significant amounts. There is a small surplus that is exported.

Nevertheless it is a net importer of physical goods (it's a net exporter of services), which seems to have got Trump very annoyed.
