Entering my #FreeBSD era.

This is running on my new #Beelink ME Mini #NAS. Not used as a NAS yet, but that's the eventual plan.

Any advice?

@troglet no advice, but a question: do you see any ACPI warnings/errors?
@gogo No ACPI warnings or errors that I can see. The only problem I've encountered so far is that the WiFi is unsupported, but as I'm not using it, that's fine :)

@troglet My advice? If you plan on storing important data on it, make sure you set up a solid backup strategy beforehand. Automate your backups, test a restore, and document the process.

Set up monitoring for your drives and ZFS pools, as well as alerts to notify you before something breaks.

And most importantly, enable periodic ZFS snapshots and create a dataset with a 5 - 10 GB reservation (in case your pool runs out of space). You'll thank yourself later.

@subnetspider Luckily, I have a pretty robust backup strategy already. This machine may form part of it, or it may not. I'm not 100% sure what it's for yet except a learning experience, but that seems like a good list of things to learn about while the stakes are low!

@troglet some of the responses to <https://www.reddit.com/r/freebsd/comments/1op7tgg/any_news_or_active_projects_similar_to_truenas/> might be of interest,

Any news or active projects similar to TrueNAS CORE based on FreeBSD? (e.g. zVault, etc.) : r/freebsd
