In 2010: "The internet isn't real life"
In 2020: "The internet IS real life"
In 2025: "Please can the internet stop being real life"
@Daojoan
"Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?"
@lobingera It is real fantasy. We just fantasized the wrong things, when we were young. @Daojoan
@xChaos @lobingera @Daojoan I think many of us in the fediverse share a pretty nice fantasy of the internet... sadly, people with orders of magnitude more money took care of that fantasy being drowned out by their technoslop.

@ozzelot yes, but there is unfortunately also the world outside Fediverse... maybe it was always like this and we just didn't care?

@lobingera @Daojoan

@xChaos @lobingera @Daojoan I guess I might just be asking who's the "we" that was fantasizing the wrong things in their youth.

@Daojoan

2026: "Internet/life got cancelled"

@Daojoan 2030: there is no real life on the internet (?)
@Daojoan
In 2030: "Do you remember when there was an Internet?"
@Daojoan too late, the internet's lifeline depends on it interweaving with every digital aspect of your reality.
@Daojoan
2013: “The Internet is Neuland for all of us”
“Maybe it’s time we remember there’s a world beyond the screen.”

@Daojoan

Your choice where you do make real life happen. Ever was. Ever is.

@Daojoan In 2030: “Real life has been depricated. An alternate version is available for a small monthly fee.”
@Daojoan Time for 2026:
The internet is a part of real life.
Which is like 1980's, possibly early 2000's if Germans and Russians bothered you.
