I've been pondering what I love about mastodon and the fediverse. I think it is how it’s not about a vacation some person I barely spoke to in highschool took, or what a co-worker from 20 years ago is up to, or some dopamine hit from a celebrity “I might like”, or a cortisol hit from a disaster I can't prevent…all recipes for misery.

It's about putting in the effort to seek out weirdos who might be weird in a somewhat similar way to me...and we might be able to bring each other a little joy by sharing a sliver of our *human* experience — with respect and consent and curiosity.

Today I'm greatly enjoying the playlist a mutual shared with her followers. It's really good and I'm smiling. The dog thinks a treat is coming.
