The stonework of the Incas is simply amazing. The really fine work, like you see here, is done for the most royal or sacred rooms. #peru #MachuPicchu
And the obligatory shot of #MachuPicchu. I was originally sad that the sky was cloudy, but then the clouds rolled in around the site and the view changed every 30 seconds. I have so many photos. #peru
The Incas had to work the site to create a flat surface for the buildings. One important consideration was drainage. It rains a LOT here, and you need to account for that, as well as keeping a steady, fresh supply for the people. But after so many centuries some signs of decay are bound to happen. Having people stomping about doesn't help, so they restrict the number of visitors. #peru #MachuPicchu
Did you know there are chinchillas at Machu Picchu? Neither did I. This chap was not as cooperative as the llamas. He gave off strong "go away" vibes. #peru
More llamas! This one was very friendly and loved neck scritches. She would lean her neck and head on you when you gave them to her as a way of thanks. Or pinning you in place so you could not stop. Either way. #ecuador
Now it's time for tortoises! Here's a big fellow trotting along in the woods. #GalapagosIslands #tortoise

As I took this shot I told one of the other people on the tour I'd call it "Turtle Soup" and was informed that I should most definitely NOT call it "Turtle Soup". So, here's "Turtle Soup".

Random stranger in the background for size.

The Galapagos can be stunningly beautiful. #GalapagosIslands

And finally, what you have all been waiting for - Boobies! Everyone loves boobies.

This is an older juvenile. You can tell by the dark feathers on the head and the not-blue feet.

I'd add the hashtag for boobies, but I'm afraid of what might happen.

#GalapagosIslands

This mama is sitting on a week-old chick and an egg that will hatch soon. It's an "heir and a spare" situation with boobies. With luck, both will survive. Fingers crossed, little ones.

A blue-footed adult boobie. Those blue feet really stand out against the white...yeah, that's poop...stuff on the rock beneath him.

#GalapagosIslands

Remember those awkward photos you took in junior high? Those difficult teen years? Yeah, boobies have the same problem.

At last, we fly away from the Galapagos. But let's leave with one last glance at a pelican flying at the beach.

@gikkt 🤭 i love the blue feet ❤️
@SeaFury Aren't they the best??
@gikkt @Binder and, like males of our species, he can’t accept that she’s not interested.
@gikkt
I would say "Tortoises bathtime". 😁
