Words matter. When the NY Times says Trump is "float[ing] the possibility of finding a way to circumvent the 22nd Amendment," they are saying it's just a small matter. No biggie.

In fact, he is threatening to FLOUT, VIOLATE, or DEFY the 22nd Amendment. It's an emergency.

@gleick He's had a stroke. That's pretty clear. Maybe more than one. From his other visible symptoms it looks like renal failure is also taking place. When he "disappears" on a regular schedule like he has that's probably for dialysis.

It doesn't matter if he dies first or not. The fact that he can say this without consequence and we can have legitimate fear for such a thing means that the country we thought we grew up in is over. Defeated by a political party that values power and force over anything.

The enemy of democracy is not just Trump, it is the party that is allowing this travesty to continue.

@gleick we should probably never forget that the single unifying force behind the entire conservative party is trying to force other people into doing things.

That's why they seek power. That is why they like guns. Sometimes it is to force you to put up with their waste, fraud, exploitation, and abuse. And the unifying principal behind the liberal party that opposes them is to maintain the maximum amount of freedom for the maximum number of people.

Words do indeed matter and the New York Times is expert at using words to manipulated public opinion. That they employ this kind of subtle wordplay just makes them more effective and dangerous since it maintains the disguise of neutral arbiter.

There is no rule he won't get around and so many people are ok or ignorant about the existential danger they are in.
