#CrossBorderRail 2025 Conclusions Tour

The #CrossBorderRail 2025 conclusions tour - mainly to go to events, but adding a few new borders too. Each day of the project is a Layer in the map - these should be displayed by default, or if not click the three layered diamonds icon "Open browser" to the left side of the map. The icons are all for borders, roughly coloured to differentiate the borders. A cross through a track means NO TRAINS CAN RUN. A cross through trains but not track means TRAINS CAN RUN BUT NO PASSENGER TRAINS. And TRAIN AND TRACK (no crosses) means there is a passenger service. All lines on the map are TRAINS, unless otherwise shown with icons along the lines - 🚲 for bike, 🚌 for bus, πŸš— for car, ⛴️ for ferry. Click each line to get basic information what it is.

Ah. There’s the border. Tobacco shop. Berlin kebab. And a sign. #CrossBorderRail

That’s #CrossBorderRail

New level of SNCF announcement irrelevance: that if I’m travelling with a dog it has to have a muzzle. How many first time passengers with dogs have we got on board I wonder? #CrossBorderRail

Your #CrossBorderRail word of the day

cafouillage

Means: shambles

Word used by the SNCF train manager about the mess boarding the Paris - Montbard TGV Iβ€˜m on but hadn’t originally intended to take

And the final train of the #CrossBorderRail conclusions tour - Montbard to Nuits-sous-Ravières
The ticket machine at Nuits was broken when I departed and is still broken on my return. I presume no one knows Windows 95 any more? #CrossBorderRail
And here’s the final #CrossBorderRail video from this tour. With Josette 🐈 as is now customary! https://peertube.netzbegruenung.de/w/x7woDmW7H9srKB7tqeatgJ

@jon (looks at my past projects) oh hello i offer consultancy on operating systems older than me πŸ˜…
@maartje @jon can you debug IRQ conflicts with 3com network cards?
@th @jon sure just lemme move some interupts
One if these should be in CitΓ© du Train in Mulhouse
One of these should be in CitΓ© du Train in Mulhouse. The rest should be given to West African countries or πŸ‡°πŸ‡πŸ‡±πŸ‡¦.
@jon my head just made the word "omelette" out of the cut off billetterie
@jon Looks like applying a fresh BFC paint on it isn't enough to refurbish an old ticket machine, who could have told! πŸ˜…πŸ˜¬

@cycling_on_rails iirc SNCF Connect or Gares & Connexions is going to start charging regions huge amounts of money to maintain these old machines next year. of course they will happily sell them new machines.

curious to see whether regions will replace them, maintain them, or go back to selling tickets on the train πŸ€”
