If you have fair skin, and you see a person of color saying things about race that you don't agree with or, worse, find objectionable...

It's always worth finding out why. Why did they come to believe what they did? Why do you find yourself in disagreement? Why is it important enough to bring up now?

You may be surprised how the answer pans out. You may even learn that while you still disagree with the POC, you empathize with how one could reach that position way more. And you may even come to show us more compassion in the long-run, when you come to know us not just for what's beautiful about our differences, but for the ugliness we share.

And you realize your best strategy in this moment is silence and compassion, not correction.

Your ancestors stole the right to correct us from you. I don't make the rules. Be mad at them for it.

@EllisArcwolf for just a second I read your first hashtag as Aunti Racism, and that seemed like such an awesome character!! (sorry that this is otherwise off topic!)

@acm_redfox

OMG THAT'S ADORABLE AND I'M SO HAPPY YOU SHARED THAT!

I feel so bad for Aunti Racism, though. I mean, like, what a name!

And you know the parents named her that just to get this interaction on tape:

Principal: "I want to talk today about Racism."
POC: "Thank you, sir, for helping us to feel seen."
Principal: "What, no, I mean Racism. Parent-teacher conference in my office, now."

@EllisArcwolf Wel, she didn't *grow up* with that name; she aged into it! Aunti Racism is at least 70 and wears an extravagent hat!

@acm_redfox

Oh no! I know that woman! 😹 😅 😭
