People are really out here saying media should only be played at 1.0x speed? Why?

Do you think there should be a speed limit on the written word, too?

Should books and articles be dispensed word-by-word on a paper tape or a digital marquee so you can only read them at the exact cadence the author intended? Get out of here.

People's brains go different speeds, y'all.

When I was a kid I would record the top 10 countdown from the radio, then listen back via high speed dubbing.

I finished college literally only because lectures were available as recordings, and I could listen at 2× without falling asleep.

And I listen to audiobooks and podcasts at 1.5×, the latter with silence removal courtesy @overcastfm

@clarko I do also find (and maybe it's an Australian thing) that those in the US speak incredibly slowly!
