Very nice of the tree surgeons to drop this off at the allotments. #Mulch #Gardening #Allotment
@Broadfork That’s very nice mixed greens and browns from the tree surgeon. We placed the last of a stockpile of wood mulch around two young apple trees, a Monarch and a London Pippin. The seasons are changing to the frozen one. Frost is forecast. We are harvesting the tender vegetables. #nodig, #minnesota, #growyourown

@Pollinators I guess when your weather changes it happens quickly.

We have another week without any frost forecast. Hoping we have weeks yet for the green manures to put on some growth before any frosts knock them back.

I’ve sown most of my winter crops with just succession sowings of broad beans and some greens for the greenhouse left to do.

@Broadfork The simultaneous garlic harvest then seed short season crops was bountiful. This was a mastodon suggestion. The crookneck yellow summer squash and the Peking Ta Ching Kou Pai Tsai Asian Greens were great.
@Pollinators All the Asian greens have definitely extended the variety and range of the growing season here too.
@Broadfork The killing frost held off one more night. Thus allowing us to harvest more greens. This is lettuce, nasturtiums, and soft purple asian greens. We also harvested the last of the red onions, yellow Parma onions, and shallots. We will cover the purple cabbages as the killing frost is forecast two more times. The purple cabbages look like a success. We started cabbages from seed, potted up, planted out, and paid attention. #minnesota, #gardening, #nodig

@Pollinators Every last harvest is a worthwhile one. This is a good selection of greens.

We are fortunate here to have a temperate climate. Things grow slowly but we can and do have something to harvest all year round.
