Messing up the car again. This time with some Lysimachia Firecracker.
In juli I took some hortensia cuttings and rooted them in a glass of water. Today I potted them up in some compost!
They will be growing in there over the next season and will be planted put next fall hopefully!
Lovely morning in the garden.
Thinned some of the summer planted brassicas (mustard greens, turnips) and planted the thinnings into next year's brassica bed. They're all rather small - perhaps not enough water this summer? Despite planting in July, many just have a couple little leaves and only germinated recently. I probably won't really be able to harvest any til next spring.
The winter radish I planted at the same time are bolting without growing any harvestable root. I don't know what I do wrong with radishes, but both my spring and fall radishes tend to just bolt without growing any radishes. At least I get to eat the pods.
Also got to work on clearing the carpet of broad beans and arugula so I can get the garlic in tomorrow.
Last spring I found a small japanese maple seedling growing between the stones on the street. It was a 'child' from my neigbours' tree. I dug out the seedling and put it in a pot.
It was doing great.
Until last week I noticed the leaves drooping a little.
When I looked closer I saw that some creature had eaten the bark of the stem completely! This is unfortunately not going to be allright..
Found seven seeds under the mothertree today. Will try again! This time I'll protect it well..
Today I decided to leave the sweet potatos in the ground a little longer. The leaves were still green and healthy enough to pump some more sugars into the tubers π±
Dug up some normal potatos instead!

Still managing to pick a few flowers for the house!
The dahlias are going strong and the zinnias are the best for years.
Itβs just as well I have a sizeable collection of vases.
