Kind of frustrating that serval gaming outlets are calling the Oct 28 release of Death by Scrolling a "Windows PC" release while totally ignoring (forgetting) it also includes the native Mac and Linux. We worked hard to fully support all three platforms.

@grumpygamer

And God Bless you and your team for that!

@grumpygamer can't wait! gonna play on Linux so thank you for the support!!
@grumpygamer And we greatly appreciate that, even if the mainstream news outlets don't care ๐Ÿงก

@grumpygamer

Iโ€™ll be getting it to play on Mac, so your efforts are very much appreciated, as always.

@grumpygamer Thank you very much for the native GNU/Linux version. Already have Death by Scrolling on my wishilst and can't wait for the release day.
@grumpygamer Linux support on day 1? Instabuy
@grumpygamer Thank you for your service.

@gamingonlinux @linuxgamecast
@mrcopilot @grumpygamer @gamingonlinux @linuxgamecast does this mean only Ubuntu is supported, or does it mean that Ubuntu is considered "minimum" lol
@HunterZ When Valve did SteamOS originally it was based on Ubuntu, so all of the store listings for games that had Linux or SteamOS support defaulted to the Ubuntu OS because that's what they were officially supporting. They've basically never changed the listing, even though the Steam Deck and SteamOS v3 running on it has nothing to do with Ubuntu.

@grumpygamer

Was it difficult to develop for these other platforms? Wouldn't it be easier to use something like proton?

@grumpygamer

I'll be a Linux user. Much thanks, sir.

@grumpygamer Thank you for supporting Linux ๐Ÿ‘
@grumpygamer that sucks. I hear mastodon loves Linux
@grumpygamer I wonder if some entity gives them something to purposely ignore the others.

@grumpygamer Nice! Thanks for making a Mac build!

Let's prove the game "journalists" wrong. Mac users do more with their computers than just Photoshop and people use Linux for other stuff than just administering networks.

@grumpygamer I can't believe no one has made a joke about your typo. I wanted game outlets featuring serval journalists, or maybe a gaming blog *for* servals?

@grumpygamer as a linux user, thank you.
@grumpygamer the is the first Iโ€™m hearing about your hand, but Iโ€™m definitely give have to look into it because of that. Seriously awesome of yโ€™all
@grumpygamer ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–
@grumpygamer oho, more native linux games, awesome! does it work in a raw wayland setup?
@grumpygamer Thank you for that! sadly I have experienced this many times. A portion of windows gamers react with hostility at any mention of Linux support as if it were an insult to them. I guess the news sites sorta cater to that. For example comments applauded the cancellation of the Batman Arkham Knight Linux port or the end of the Rocket League native Linux version because "now those dev hours will be used to fix bugs for normal people instead of useless Linux crap".
@grumpygamer Now we just need the AAA developers to follow suit. There is no reason, with the budgets they throw at development these days, that they can't support other platforms. Especially for their anti-cheat software.
@grumpygamer We LOVE you Ron! โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿค—
@grumpygamer and thank you for that!
@grumpygamer welcome to the unfortunate fight @gamingonlinux has had to have for almost a lifetime. That and calling Windows "PC"

@mdiluz @grumpygamer

I lost that war a long time ago.

I would reply to every press team who did it, asking them to be clearer if they meant specifically Windows. Most didn't reply, some replied to note their actual refusal to change their wording.

Made worse in a way by Steam Deck / Proton, because now I have to clarify at times about Proton or Native Linux - and usually PR teams have no fucking idea the Steam Deck is Linux.

@mdiluz @grumpygamer Also funny that some news sites still say things like "Valve's Proton OS" ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@grumpygamer Because everyone knows that "Windows" means "PC", duh
